Apparatus Driver Operator – Pumper (32Hrs)
This course is designed to meet objectives of the current edition of NFPA 1002, Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications. The student will learn topics such as: fire apparatus construction, inspection and maintenance, fire pump theory, various systems of pumping apparatus, transfer valve, pressure control devices, primers and drafting principles, fire streams and hydraulic calculation, and water supply and private protection systems.
In addition to pump theory and pump operations, this course also covers the requirements of the NFPA 1002, for driving and maneuvering a fire apparatus in a confined space, restricted/diminished clearance, serpentine and non-emergency and emergency vehicle operations.
Successful completion of this course will prepare candidates for certification as an Apparatus Driver Operator – Pumper.
