Public Fireworks Displays
Public fireworks displays may be held anytime throughout the year. A Public Fireworks Display Permit application must be received in this office at least 10 business days prior to the date of the display. If only Class C fireworks will be shot, a permit is not necessary. A licensed Public Display Operator must be present at the display and supervise those discharging the display (Class B) fireworks. The local fire chief or his/her representative must also review and sign the permit. A $10 non-refundable fee is assessed for each display.
Public Display Operators
A licensed Public Display Operator is responsible for the Public Display Permit application and must be present and supervise anyone assisting with the display. In order to become a licensed Public Display Operator an individual must take a test over state regulations. There is no charge to become a licensed Public Display Operator. Licenses from other states will not be accepted. The test is scheduled once a month. It is also given at Fire School in May.
Distributors and Jobbers
Distributors and jobbers must obtain an annual license from this office prior to doing business in the state. A Distributor is anyone engaged in the business of making sales of fireworks at wholesale to anyone engaged in the business of making sales of fireworks either as a jobber or as a retailer or both. Jobbers are anyone engaged in the business of making sales of fireworks at wholesale to anyone engaged in the business of making sales at retail. Only businesses or people holding a valid distributor or jobber’s license may legally transport fireworks from another state into Nebraska.
Transportation of Fireworks
Nebraska State Statute 28-1248 provides that it shall be unlawful for any person not licensed as a distributor or jobber to bring any fireworks into the state.

General Information
All Firework Retail license applications must be submitted no later than Thursday, June 8th at 11:59 PM CDT per the state statute's 10 business day requirement (Monday, June 19th is a holiday).
