Today Governor Pillen issued  Executive Order 25-09 in which he “…hereby suspend §§81-520.01 (2) and 81-520.04 and direct a statewide suspension of the authority vested in local fire chiefs to waive the open burning ban in all portions of the state determined to be at high, very high, or extreme risk for rangeland fires until midnight May 10, 2025." The following area is affected: West of a line starting at the South Dakota border following U.S. Hwy 81 south to Nebraska Highway 92. Highway 92 west to U.S. Highway 281 and south following Highway 281 to the Kansas border.
